July 2006 - Heroes of Mariah

Los Angeles' KIIS FM Interview with Mariah
This morning at about 7:45am, Mariah called in to KIIS FM to chat with Ryan Seacrest and Ellen K. about her Los Angeles shows in October. During the interview, Mariah also talked about the following topics:
- Purple Food and Dieting. She denied the "Purple Food" rumor. "Does that sound realistic to you?" she asked Ryan.
- Pepsi Smash Concert. That it was the first time they (with Randy Jackson) had rung the show from top to bottom and that it wasn't the actual show and had to make the set list shorter. That fans were great and thought the Pepsi Smash concert was a cute, little beginner/preparation for her tour.
- Fearlessness. Ryan asked, "You can't just go out and do a normal show, how does Mariah rise in this performance?" She replied by saying Randy loves her "fearlessness." Mariah said that in "Vision of Love" she decided to do whatever she felt, like doing it in the upper register, and started doing ad-libs, that she doesn't care where she lands, "It'll be fine, we'll get to the end. When I get to the long a capella rift, it's having the freedom."
- Janet Jackson and the Duet. She loves Janet. That they don't know each other well. That it wasn't the first time they met at Oprah's, they met a couple of times at clubs/parties. About the duet, Mariah said, "To me, it's a rumor because Jermaine [Dupri] hasn't called me." Mariah's waiting for Jermaine to call her so they could write the song, she said, "Ain't no song, ain't no duet."
- Boyfriend. She told Ryan, "MYOB." (Mind Your Own Business) It's her way of "trying to be polite and don't want to answer the question."
- The Vignettes. They fixed the audio so the audience could hear what's being said. She wants people to scream but she wants them to hear the dialogues.

More news from Tunis
Mariah's concert that was held in Menzeh stadium last 24th july got an imminent success thanks its mastery of the pop
conventions, a back voicing gospel voices, a dancing band and heavy clothe changing (she wore so few things), and despite the hot climate, she did performed her songs well, the kids got the full package of the show that last less than one hour thirty
starting at eleven (on hour later than scheduled).
The concert was a set of lights and boosted bass, the voice of Mrs.Carey did superpass all the tension all around, and
everybody danced like a fool, surrounded by kids (the average was about 20), I found myself dancing between photo shots.
The Menzeh Stadium was overcrowded as in national Football championship and the heat was more than July's burning
celcius, everybody got there and have already acquired the proequities for the fun, some come in groups, some were their
relatives.
Inside the Menzeh stadium who's access road were all barred, the police was surrounding all over around, there was orange
security guys in the entry with steel detector, I was asked to leave the camera out as photos was prohibited, I did pay the guy 5 dinars and go ahead....
There was a VIP entry at 1 Million TND (850 $) offering a special entry to Mimi's dinner and a photo with her.

Mariah on The Game's new album
A few months ago, I told you Mariah would be featured on The Game's new album "The Doctor's Advocate", it's now confirmed by Game himself.  The release date is scheduled for November 2006 and according to Game himself, on November the 7th..  Let's hope it will not be postponed or scrapped from the album like many other collabs we expected (see Busta's latest album), as it's rumored Game would have left Aftermath and has now a deal with Geffen.  "The Doctor's Advocate" could be a very good album, as there will be production by Dre, Just Blaze, Kanye West, Timbaland, Scott Storch, 9th Wonder and Mike Elizondo and collabs with Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill, Damian Marley, Anthony Hamilton and Mariah.  Wait and see...

UK journalist talks about Tunis
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to experience a jazz festival in Africa.
So, back in frosty February when I was invited by the Tunisian National Tourist Office in London to cover part of the Tabarka Jazz Festival (July 8th to 16th) for the UK press, I was understandably quite elated.
Landing at the airport in Tunisia’s capital, Tunis, on July 11th, was a cultural revelation in itself. ‘Tunis-Carthage’ is as large and as predictable an international thoroughfare as you will find in any other part of the world: sullen-faced security guards armed to the eye-teeth standing sentry before long hallways and queues; multi-lingual signs just above your head to give directions (in this case mainly in Arabic and French). As with any such cosmopolitan port, it is also a no man’s land of sorts.
What was immediately at odds with this picture, however, was the image of Mariah Carey, G.D.C.F.P - gravity defying cleavage fully prominent.
Her mounted promotional photos were to be found on billboards throughout the airport arrival hall. I was later informed that she would be performing for local charities in and around Tunis on July 23 and 24.
It didn’t take me too long to discover that many Tunisians enthusiastically soak up a huge variety of musical influences piped to them through the mass media – and that Mariah Carey is as popular among the country’s youthful population (comprising some seventy percent of the country’s 10m inhabitants) as Bob Marley and Fifty Cent.

Lee Daniels about Mariah in HX magazine
I have two strikes against me in this world, I’m black and gay. I don’t give a fuck. I’m gonna do my thing. And Mimi loves me! Mariah’s in my next movie, and she came to the Casa del Mar in Santa Monica in her bikini in the middle of the lobby with her stilettos, saying, “You like?” And I’m like, “No, I love. You’re gonna make me question my motherfuckin’ sexuality!”

Mariah's second concert in Tunis

For her second concert in Tunis on July the 24th., Mariah choose a best of compilation, most singles and remixes of the best hits from her albums.
1h30 of happiness where you could enjoy her vocal performances, full voice and high notes.
Was Mariah able to attract a big audience despite the heath wave in Tunis? Oh yes!!!! A huge crowd waited in the heath to enter at the concert.
The long awaited moment occured and Mariah appeared, there was a big ovation.
The show started with a video footage of a roller coaster on a giant screen.
It's Like That, Heartbreaker (remix) where the diva sings freestyle. then Dreamlover and My All before a break where the dancers putted the stadium on fire.
Mariah came back and sang Honey, Breakdown, Shake It Off, I'll Be There, Fly Like A Bird, Fantasy, Don't Forget About Us and I Know What You Want.  It was almost the same setlist as for the first concert.  Now Mariah was wearing a black dress and sang Thank God I Found You remix, One Sweet Day, Hero, Vision Of Love and Make It Happen.

«One sweet day», «Hero», «Vision of love» et «Make it happen» ont meublé la dernière partie du spectacle.

Summary and translation I made of the article below
Mariah Carey, all was there, but still...
Most of the people arrived around 17h00 at the El Menzah stadium.  You could see Mimi look a likes and very young girls who came with their parents. But does these people really know their idol?  There were of course Tunisians, Chinese, Belgians, French and Saoudi people.  Some people came for Mariah's hotness (read body), some others were fans but couldn't give any song title. But they were all waiting for the concert.
Around 21h30, one hour before the announced start, some people were already impatient and started hitting the iron surfaces which sounded like a chopper, and people became excited thinking Mariah arrived from the sky.
The journalist writes the show was good but not great, he was awaiting for something more, like a real connection with the audience. Also he notices people couldn't see very well, except maybe some on the lawn.  The giant screens sometimes didn't even gave the real concert, but parts of videos and made him wander if it was all live.
People were a lil' disappointed 'cause they could only see a very "little" Mariah, the stage was too far to see something correctly.  Some others thought they came to see Shakira.  But a lot were pleased.
Mimi was very happy, at least it's what she said.  She also asked young people to quite smoking, only for that "bravo", quotes the journalist.

Mariah Carey

Paolo (from Italy) just sent me an e-mail to tell he was in Tunis to attend the concerts and he was able to talk with one of Mariah's dancers at an entry behind the stadium, apparently there could be some European dates early 2007.
Guys, remember what I posted earlier today in the translation of the Tunisian newspaper "Le Quotidien", they also talk about a European Tour.  Let's cross the fingers!!!!!!
A big thanks to Paolo for the info.

Mariah Carey's two men
Mariah Carey has two men in her life - God and the pastor who helped her get through the toughest part of her life. The singer credits her faith with helping her bounce back from a breakdown in 2001/2002, following the failure of both the movie and album Glitter, which prompted label Virgin to buy out her record contract. Carey was particularly helped by Reverend Clarence Keaton , who performed with her at the Grammy Awards this year (06), and who she describes as the most important man in her life. She says, "I really give credit for everything to God. Everything I have is because He has given it to me. So if I've had to go through some times that were a little difficult, and where some people had some different opinions about me - they still do and always will - but as long as I have that unconditional love from God, and I realise that no matter what, He is the one who will always be here for me, regardless. "For this particular moment in my life, I've been able to go to church more and I've been able to have a really good relationship with my pastor Reverend Clarence Keaton of the True Worship Church. He's just a really great person. That is something that has really helped me." Carey insists she's not looking for any romantic attachment, because she is still hurt by the failure of her marriage to record boss Tommy Mottola. She adds, "I don't feel comfortable being in like 50,000 different relationships. I've never been that type of person. I was married and that didn't work out, and that is something that in a lot of ways shaped the way I approach relationships." But Carey knows what qualities her next partner will need: "He would be on the same page with me spiritually, have a sense of humour and is not concerned about being overshadowed by the fame thing."

Finally the international press is talking about Mariah's concerts in Tunis.  Until now, most of the news come of course from Tunisia, but also from Morocco, Spain and France.

Summary and translation I made of the article below
Golden voice and in great shape: Mariah Carey gave 2 successful concerts in Tunisia.
Under the name "Mimi in Tunisia," Mariah gave two mega colored shows on July 22 and 24, attended by an estimated
60,000 people at the El Menzah stadium in Tunis.
Showing her goddess legs, sometimes playing "cabaret", relax despite the heat, Mimi gave a tonic show with her biggest hits from "Butterfly" or "The Emancipation of Mimi" her last album which sold over 9 million copies.
Showing off her legs lasciviously, reminiscent sometimes of a cabaret, very much at ease despite the heat, Mimi gave a great show of songs from her biggest hits "Butterfly" and "The Emancipation of Mimi," her last album which sold over nine million copies.
"It's Like That", "My All", "Honey", "Don't Forget About Us", "Dreamlover", "We Belong Together", fans became crazy when she performed "Breakdown", "Shake It Off" and "Fly Like A Bird".
With her strong and smooth voice, alternating between romantic ballads and bangin' songs, the mixed diva told the audience: "I love this crowd" ou "How do you feel", "I love you Tunisia".
"She's fantastic...", "Complete happiness", said the audience, some people attended both concerts.
"Mini shorts and great shape!" clamed francesco, 21 years old, who came especially from Italy.
Monday night, the diva was wearing a short and a bikini top with a light black cape to the pleasure of the young Tunisians and fans from France, Italy and even Canada.
"It's fantastic! I never thought I would see her in real", said Fatma, 17 years old.
Mariah's return is a success commented a radio DJ.
The star performed for the first time in Africa, it was the start of the tour which will go on in 30 US and canada, and later in Japan.

'Come back' réussi pour Mariah Carey acclamée à Tunis
"It's like that", "My All", "Honey" en passant par "Don't forget about us" "Dream Lover", "We Belong Together", faisant hurler ses fans avec "Breakdown", "shaket it off" ou "Fly like a bird".

The release of Trey Lorenz's new CD with Mariah Carey singing back-up
Skreem Entertainment Corporation (OTCBB:SKRM) issues a positive growth update statement reflecting the company's immediate and long-range plans by announcing a series of negotiations in progress. Included in these plans are: entering the Asian on-line video gaming industry through acquisition; the release of Trey Lorenz's new CD with Mariah Carey singing back-up.
Charles Camorata, President, said, "Our music and video website, www.Skreem.TV, is on target to have over 400,000 hits in July, which shows the public market is reflecting our success. Releasing Trey Lorenz's new CD with Mariah Carey singing backup will be a real coup -- who can forget his duet with Mariah Carey on MTV's "Unplugged" of the Jackson 5 hit song, 'I'll Be There.'"

Nelly: "Mariah Carey, she's possibly the best singer I've heard,"
As you might guess, enjoying the distinction of working with both Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson in less than a year has been "a dream come true" for Nelly.
Mariah Carey, she's possibly the best singer I've heard," he said. "And you watch someone such as Mariah, who went from the highest of the high to the lowest of the low, and come back like she never missed a beat, and stand up and smack everybody in the face like, 'I'm still here; matter of fact I'm better' — that gives you inspiration. That keeps me going.
The King of St. Louis said he made it a point to do true collaborations with Mariah and Janet, rather than make the track the way artists typically do — where the singer records 90 percent of the record and sends the Pro Tools file to another studio for the MC to lay his verse and ad libs.
"I wanted to do something different," he explained. "I just don't want to be, 'You do the song and I put the 16 [bars] on the end, or eight bars on the front.' With Mariah, I went in, me and Mariah sat down and wrote the song out. With Janet, we went in, wrote the song out. It's not like they had the song done and said, 'Nelly, put your thing on it.' I'm happy it went that way because I feel more of a part of it. You can't take me off and still have a song."
Although Nelly loved recording with Janet, he deemed the Mariah sessions the most fun he's ever had in two days in a studio. "When me and Mariah did the joint, we had the studio locked down," he recalled. "I was working on Sweatsuit, Snoop was working on his album and Mariah was working on her album. We had all the studio's doors open because we're all family.
"Snoop's room was little more smoky than everybody else's," he joked. "Matter of fact, I was in with Christina Aguilera in my studio and was going back and forth with Mariah. We had the basketball goal in there, we was hooping — me, Ali and one of our partners [against] Snoop, Nate Dogg and somebody else. Everybody was chilling. We in the studio, hooping like we outdoors."
So is Nelly going to call on Janet or Mariah, or maybe both superstars to return the favor and sing on his next LP? Maybe — he isn't sure about any collaborations just yet. His next record won't drop until next year, he said. He wants to concentrate on releasing albums by the artists on his Derrty Entertainment imprint.

Summary and translation I made of the article below
European leg of "The Adventures of Mimi"??????
Tunisians will not forget THE summer 2006 event, Mimi.
To avoid the congestion, we choose like thousands of fans to go to the stadium by the "La Charguia" road.  There was a lot of security on the way to the stadium and you could only access the roads if you had a concert ticket or the MC decorated badge.  We still don't know how people who live near the stadium were able to access their homes.
We were controlled 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 times and then stopped counting the control stops.  About 3000 security people stayed every 10 or 20 meters on the little distance to the stadium. Some are in uniform, some others in civilian clothes, some with their horse, others by car, moto or busses.
Fans from outside the city of Tunis payed half the price to travel by bus or train to come to the concert.
We finally reached the doors of the stadium.  It was like a flashback, we remembered when Michael Jackson and Sting also came to Tunis.
The sun was slowly fading and everyone was happy.  Inside you could find fresh drinks, sandwiches, dry fruits and jasmin "mechmoum" (little typical flower bouquet).
At 19h40 more people were taking place in the stadium, young and less young, we even saw old veiled ladies.
Italian technicians took care to cover the lawn with a special white carpet to avoid the destruction of the stadium's grass.
The whole stuff with the lightening and the works on the stage costed a lot.
It's 20h00, then 21h00, on stage we can barely see a few girls dancing to Mariah songs, it was now 22h00 and there was still nothing happening, even the music stopped.  The audience became agitated and impatient, they began to stamp with their feet, they screamed, they booed.
Suddenly the lights went out and we saw the stage.  It was 22h40, Mariah was there, it was really her, for real!!!
It was like a dream, the concert started with "It's Like That", and went on with Mariah's old and new songs. "My All", "Hero", "We Belong Together", "I Know What You Want" and the charmed public sang along to "Without You", they couldn't see Mariah very well but there was still the big screens.
Among the represented TV channels which wanted to cover the event were MTV and M6.
They talked of around 30.000 or 40.000 people attending, no one know exactly.
Mariah was very happy and said: " I'm very happy to be in Tunisia and thankful to the President Ben Ali and his wife Leila Ben Ali and I give you a big kiss.  All my gratitude goes on to the Tunisian people, for their warm welcome and hospitality".
After the 2 concerts in Tunis, the diva will travel with her "Adventures of Mimi" across Europe and North America to continue this wonderful moments.
Heroes comment: Please note there was no reason to be so impatient they needed to boo as Mariah was not too late, the concert was announced for 22h30.  But more interesting, they talk about a European Tour .  People from our forum will remember Kinou's plan from last month

On crie. On siffle.
Avec les “My all “Hero”, “We belong together”, “I know what you want” et surtout “With you” dont le public a répété en chœur quelques refrains ...
Toute ma gratitude à ce peuple tunisien, chaleureux et hospitalier”, a dit Mariah Carey (with her american accent).

Exclusive: Mariah is a human being!!!!!!!
Coming from websites which have the bad habit to critisize Mariah in everything she does, what she wears, how she sings, her look, etc...  we can eventually understand, let's call it "hate" towards Mariah, we can understand it 'cause they are not fans.  But since a few days, especially since the first Tunis concert, a trash campaign seems to reach some fans .
Mariah sweats, then what, don't you?  For your information, the temperature inside the El Menzah stadium at the beginning of the concert was still 34 degree Celcius (93.2 degree Fahrenheit), add the heat of the lights for the stage and Mariah stayed in a room temperature reaching 45 degree Celcius (113 degree Fahrenheit).  So tell me if it's not normal to look tired if we know Mariah sang live and putted a lot of energy into it.  Not only they critisize Mariah as a person, they also critisize the setlist.  God, how far will go the stupidity?  Just enjoy the fact Mariah is touring, that's all.  Sometimes I wonder if some people shouldn't look for another person they can be fan of, instead of staying glued to a person they want perfect and who should do all what they want.
Sorry, it's not that way it works.  When you love a person, you accept her like she is, period.
The best is that most of the ones who give out their critics are the first ones screaming and becoming almost hysterical when they see Mariah.  Listen people, next time you see her, tell her you don't like her voice, her look, that you don't like the way she is, let you go, spit it all in her face and then go at her side to have your damn picture with your fake smile.  But be carefull for Michael or Darryl, they could know it .
With that said, I'm gonna enjoy this beautiful summer day and trying to have some distraction with some "real" people.
Oh, I forgot, in case you didn't know, I'll make an exclusive announcement, Mariah is a human being, this means she also goes to the ladies room like everyone else, dang, you didn't know that huh?

"Tennessee"- Lee Daniels
Daniels suffered a heart attack last fall, weeks into preproduction on a film with Mariah Carey. He blames his lousy health on a combination of stress, around-the-clock work, and the residue of a couple of decades' worth of drug use. And then going cold turkey.
"I'm stopping the insanity," he says. "For the first time in my life, I'm taking two months off. I'm taking my kids to Argentina as soon as the film opens, and then I'm going to stay in Spain for a little bit when they go back to school."
And then Daniels says he'll start work on a new film. At least, that's the plan.

C'était tout simplement génial : It's like that, Heartbreaker, Dreamlover, My all, Honey, Breakdown (avec une chorégraphie d'enfer), Shake it off, I'll be there (en duo avec Trey), Fly like a bird, Fantasy, Don't forget about us, Always be my baby, I know what you want, Friend of Mine (interprétée par Trey Lorenz), Thank God I Found You (en duo avec Trey), One Sweet Day (en duo avec Trey), Hero, Vision of love, Make it happen, Without You (chantée en choeur par tout le stade) et We Belong Together!

First concert of Mariah Carey at the Olympic stadium El Menzah
Tunisia can do it to welcome the biggest showbiz stars.  Mariah gave last night her concert at El Menzah, the sono was 85 decibel, music in the ears, de eyes and the hearts.  And not whatever sound, it was the hypersensual voice of the diva.
It was a magic moment like Tunisians can enjoy them, one of the biggest worldwide stars sang for them!  She invited them to a fabolous travel, and people came from the entire country to attend the megashow.
The doors opened at 5pm and at 9pm the stadium was half packed and people were still in queue outside.
In the audience you could see teens, young couples but also families, there were even seniors.  About 100 press people attended the concert.
10:40 pm: lights went out. The show began with a big ovation and Mariah entered saying "Hello Tunisia".
Mariah was there in real and the audience went crazy.
Sensual and very confortable, Mariah sang for the audience which sang along.

«I Love You», lui dit Mariah Carey.

Mariah goes p.i.n.k.
Everybody and their mother wants to start a vodka line. But in the end, flavorless vodkas are very hard to distinguish from one another.
So to set themselves apart, the founders of p.i.n.k. vodka decided they wouldn't just try to make drinkers tipsy - they'd get them to go bananas.
"There is nothing else like this product in the world right now," says creator David Mandell. "Because it is flavorless, 80 proof and caffeine- and guarana-infused."
What does that mean, exactly? It means that instead of getting tired as an evening of partying wears on, fans of the beverage get more and more amped. If you're not careful, it can even end in a "pinkout," a term enthusiasts have coined for the wreckage that occurs instead of a traditional "blackout."
The strategy, as it turns out, has been a huge success.
In the two months since it's been released, p.i.n.k. has already found its way into the hands of celebrities like Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Mariah Carey and even rapper DMX, who pulled a bottle on camera with him on BET's "106 and Park," and who later insisted that p.i.n.k be provided backstage at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, where he is performing tomorrow.

"The Adventures of Mimi" Tour: J-1
Compilation and translation of the articles below
Mariah was scheduled to arrive in Tunis at 3am, then it was said it would be around 5pm, finally it was confirmed it would be 10:30pm.
People who were waiting outside the airport were very nervous and excited.  There was a lot of security. The promotors had scheduled a little traditional music show to welcome the Diva.
Finally 3 black cars were waiting near the honour room and people went more and more stressed.  At 10:30 the dream comes true and the private jet is landing.  The diva appeared with all lights on her.  They offer her the traditional jasmin necklace, people outside went crazy and Mariah stayed next to the traditional music group to pose for photographers.
Then, escorted by her bodyguards, she approached the fans who were screeming "Mimi, we love you".  It went very fast, and when she left for Hammamet, she opened the window of the car and waived.  Even a long time after she left, you could still hear Mariah's name and fans discussing this excited moment which just happened.
It was not a dream, "I’m so excited to be in Tunisia", the spot seen on Tunisian TV became reality.
Litle info: There will be facilities for people travelling to Tunis, train tickets will be half of the price for people with a concert ticket. Transportation in the "Grand-Tunis" (in the city) will be scheduled before and after the concerts.
An important point in these concerts is that a part of the benefits will go to charities.

Hundreds of fans welcomed Mariah when she arrived late in the evening in Tunis.

Lee Daniels Morphs From Iconoclastic Producer Into an Iconoclastic Director
The first film Lee Daniels produced, “Monster’s Ball,” told the story of a young black woman, who unwittingly falls in love with the white middle-aged prison guard who executed her husband. The second, “The Woodsman,” follows a pedophile who tries to assimilate into society after a 12-year jail term.
“Shadowboxer,” his directorial debut, which opens Friday, is no less twisted and controversial than his previous work. It tells the story of two contract killers, Rose and Mikey (Helen Mirren and Cuba Gooding Jr.), a stepmother and stepson, who happen to be lovers. And, if that weren’t enough, Rose is dying of cancer.
He decided to direct because he wanted to exert more control over his projects. His filmmaking style, he said, is more European than American. “Here we like everything wrapped in a neat bow: boy meets girl, boy gets girl, explosion, explosion, clap, clap, clap.”
He returns to producing with his next film, “Tennessee,” about two brothers who escape an abusive father, only to find out that one is dying of cancer. Mariah Carey stars as an aspiring country singer who loves Dolly Parton. “It’s messy,” Mr. Daniels said, “and I’ll leave it at that.”

Rumors, rumors, rumors...
On a lot of Tunisian forums and even in the streets of Tunis, they spread rumors the concerts at "El Menzah" are soldout.
Until now, none of the concerts are soldout.  Some people are spreading rumors to sell tickets on the black market.
Proof it's not selling that well (at the moment) is that they now added at few ticket sale points in Tunis City.  Two bars and even a supermarket (Carrefour) are now selling tickets. But after all, it could sell very well, as Tunisians are known to buy concert tickets at the very last minute.

Mariah in Tunis: Mariah will stay at least in 5 different hotels
If you go read on Tunisian forums, some peolple claim to have the scoop on which hotel Mariah will stay in Tunis.  Everyone claims to have the info, but the funniest is they don't have all the same info.  At least 5 hotels are rumored, one in the city center where Michael Jackson stayed 10 years ago (but it's not that luxurious anymore), a few others outside Tunis where it's better to enjoy some privacy and better for security (which is a very important point of this trip).  Wait and see....

On verra bien....

Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockman about Mariah
For a recent telephone interview, Stockman was reached in Toledo, Ohio, where he was working with Swagga Boyz -- an emerging hip-hop group signed to his Soul Chemistry Projects production company.
Q: Mariah Carey posted a strong comeback with her last album. Do you look at that and say, "We could do it as big again"?
A: Of course. Mariah is talented, and you can't denounce her talent. Yeah, she's gone through a couple of personal things, but that didn't change the quality and the texture of her voice. It was only a matter of time before she would rise again and be on top. We feel the same way about ourselves. We're just waiting for our moment.

I made a lil' summary and translation of an article in today's Tunisian newspaper
Mariah wasn't the first choice   they choose her 'cause Shakira was too capricious and Aznavour not interested...... then tell me why the worldwide media is always on Mariah's back?????
"One main goal: To succeed the concert"
It's now known that Mariah wasn't the first choice for the concerts which will help to promote tourism in Tunisia.
The promotor told his first choice was Shakira but the the capricious demands of the star convinced him to look for someone else.  He then contacted French singer Charles Aznavour but the singer refused 'cause he prefered more intimate venues.  Then whith the success of "The Emancipation of Mimi" and the announcement of a Tour, he choose Mariah.
He then needed to convince the star's tour manager, Michael Richardson. "Michael Richardson is the typical American businessman" tells the promotor.  "He first took a lot of infos about Tunisia, then he visited us 2 times before he gave us a big file regarding the organization of the concert.  He was finally convinced we were able to organize such a concert and told me: "Everything's ok, you're up to date in Tunisia".
They choose the "El Menzah" stadium for security reasons. Talking of security, kids under 12 aren't allowed inside the stadium.  Most part of the audience will be standing, drink stands and toilets will be planned to make the long wait of the crowd nicer.  The show which is about 1h30 is expected to start around 22h30 (10h30pm).
The sales of the tickets is very slow to start, but the promotors have good faith and are hoping for a big touristic repercussion.

"What More Can I Give" to be released after all???
In a split decision, a civil court jury Friday awarded former Michael Jackson adviser F. Marc Schaffel $900,000 -- far less than he claimed in a complicated dispute over money he said the pop star owed him -- and awarded Jackson $200,000 in his cross-complaint against Schaffel.
Schaffel sued for $3.8 million in unpaid commissions, fees and loans, but his claims were later reduced to $1.6 million, and his attorney ultimately asked for $1.4 million before deliberations began Thursday.
The trial delved into claims involving work Schaffel did to produce two videos aired on Fox that were intended to rehabilitate Jackson's image in the aftermath of a damaging documentary, and claims involving ``What More Can I Give,'' an ill-fated Jackson song intended to raise funds for victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Several jurors asked after the verdict to see a video of ``What More Can I Give,'' which wasn't played during the trial. Schaffel's attorney obliged, showing a multi-artist production with Jackson leading the singing, and stars such as Mariah Carey, Usher and Beyonce taking turns singing.
``It's so great,'' said juror Cathleen Yancey, 20. ``I think it should be out. There's a lot that would have to happen for it to be released. But I think it should be out.''
L. Londell McMillan, a New York lawyer recently hired by Jackson to restructure his business affairs, said the recording will be released.

Mariah Looking To Tour For Musical Inspiration
When not onstage during her fast-approaching Adventures of Mimi: The Voice, the Hits, the Tour, Mariah Carey says she'll be laying down the groundwork for her next album. "I'm doing something I've never done before," the singer tells Billboard. "I'm doing the tour bus this time around. There will be much time for writing songs."
Carey says she's looking forward to the cross-country drive. "It's an experience I've never had," she says. "It will reconnect me, in a deeper way, to what's going on in the world -- to what people are doing and thinking."
The artist says she is looking to the road trip for lyrical and creative inspiration. "I fall back in love with the recording process and the studio when I've been away from it," she offers.
As previously reported, Carey's outing begins Aug. 5 in Miami. Three U.S. shows on the itinerary were pulled and substituted with dates in Canada, a move attributed by tour promoter Live Nation more to heat north of the border than softness in the United States.
"She sold out Toronto, she sold out Vancouver, she did over 10,000 tickets in Montreal, and she did well in Edmonton," Live Nation VP Brad Wavra says. "Why not gog into Winnipeg and Calgary and add another show in Toronto? The Canadian market is very hot now, and the exchange rate makes it very affordable to go up there and not feel like we're playing for short money."

Heroes note: It seems it's an old article they published only now, as we know a second show is added in Toronto and Calgary is on the list.

British alt-poppers Keane impressed by Mariah's..... bus
In June, pop group Keane premiered its new single "Is It Any Wonder?" on "The Tonight Show" following headlining guest Mariah Carey — who, as Rice-Oxley recollects it, barely noticed her co-stars, who all are well over 6 feet tall.
"Mariah is one of those people who doesn't mix with the hoi-polloi too much," he laughs. "She arrived in this enormous bus ... her entire bus is like an ad, covered in artwork with a huge picture of her on the side, with one of the door handles located on her nipple. It was ... errrr ... impressive."

James LeBron likes Mariah
James LeBron, basketball player seemed veeeeeery interested by Mariah at the ESPY Awards.
Bill Simmons from ESPN reports:
"I happened to be sitting a couple of rows behind LeBron [James], which was funny because every time a female celebrity walked on stage (Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Ashley Judd, etc.), he looked more intense than he did during Game 4 of the Pistons series. If they ever do an ESPN Full Circle for the ESPYS, there needs to be a channel devoted just to LeBron's reactions to everyone who walks out."
"A well-known executive (not from ESPN) fell sound asleep during the middle of the show. That was my single favorite moment of the night other than LeBron staring Mariah Carey down like she was an Aston Martin. Hopefully there's videotape."

Pink about Mariah
"There's a lot of that going on with a bunch of artists," said Pink. "Americans seem more song-fixated, of-the-moment. Overseas, once they love you, they love you forever. Mariah Carey is another person who's had her ups and downs in the U.S. But she's always been huge in places like Japan."

Mariah talks about a duet with Janet on Access Hollywood
Mariah Carey tells "Access Hollywood" in an exclusive interview that she's ready to warble withwith Janet Jackson.
Mariah's exclusive Janet tip came during an "Access" interview that will air Thursday.
Jermaine Dupri, record producer and incidentally, Janet's boyfriend, had earlier revealed that he was hoping to record a duet with Janet and Mariah.
When asked about the possibility of a duet with Janet, Mariah told "Access Hollywood's" Nancy O'Dell, "Jermaine (Dupri) keeps saying this, but Jermaine has to call me and tell me about it. I love Janet. Janet is wonderful. I'm a fan. I'll totally do it, but he's got to let me know so we can write the song."
When Janet was asked if there was truth to the two multi-Grammy winners teaming up, she played coy with "Access'" Shaun Robinson on the ESPY Awards red carpet Wednesday night saying, "There may be truth to that."
Ladies, we look forward to it!

Mariah in Turkey tomorrow: part 2
I didn't wanted to give up until I found someting on that strange news reported by Today AZ this afternoon.
Today AZ is the only news site (in Azerbaijan) to report the news that Mariah will perform at the BTC opening ceremony tomorrow.  Too weird, as like I said this morning Mariah is scheduled to attend the taping of the ESPY's today in LA , how could she be on time for a ceremony in Turkey???  Even if she sleeps while travelling, it's too weird.  Finally, I found out that the original quoted source wasn't the Austrian APA, but the "Azery Press Agency".  I run to their site and ...., the announced artist is Merai Kerry.
...... who messed it up???

Melody from the Pussycat Dolls: "I want to be Mariah Carey"
Dolls star Melody plans solo career
Pussycat Dolls stunner Melody Thornton has hinted she'll be the first to quit the sexy group after confessing her first band mates initially hated her and she was far from happy when she wasn't chosen to front the band.
The Don't Cha singer insists the girls' happy family image isn't exactly what it seems, and she is only interested in using the group as a stepping stone to become the next Mariah Carey.
Thornton tells Blender magazine, "When I first met all of the girls, some of them - not the girls who are in the group now - were not as welcoming.
"I was like, 'What? I'm a kid. Leave me alone."
The sexy singer admits she has big solo plans: "I'm biding my time... We all see this as a springboard for something else.
"Some girls have said, 'It's my dream to be in a pop group,'and I'm like, 'OK, because I want to be Mariah Carey.'"

Mariah featured on Sam Moore's upcoming album, "Overnight Sensational."
Superstars such as Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Mariah Carey and Eric Clapton are among the contributors to soul legend Sam Moore's upcoming album, "Overnight Sensational." The Rhino set was originally expected this spring but was bumped to Aug. 29 to accommodate Moore's performances at several recent festivals.
As previously reported, the album was produced by "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson. It will be Moore's first contemporary solo project, following 2002's "Plenty Good Lovin'," which was originally intended for release in 1970 but was shelved for more than three decades.
Springsteen joins Moore on "Better To Have and Not Need," while Bad Company/Free's Paul Rodgers guests on the Garth Brooks-penned "We Shall Be Free." Carey and Vince Gill both appear with Moore on "It's Only Make Believe," while Sting and Sheila E enliven "None of Us Are Free."
"Overnight Sensational" also features the final recordings from keyboardist Billy Preston, who died last month after a long illness. Preston plays Hammond B-3 organ on "I Can't Stand the Rain" featuring Wynonna, Bekka Bramlett and Bebe Winans and "You Are So Beautiful," which boasts Clapton, Zucchero and Robert Randolph.
Here is the track list for "Overnight Sensational":
- "I Can't Stand the Rain" featuring Wynonna, Bekka Bramlett, Billy Preston and Bebe Winans
- "Better To Have and Not Need" featuring Bruce Springsteen
- "Blame It on the Rain" featuring Fantasia
- "Lookin' for a Love" featuring Jon Bon Jovi
- "Ain't No Love" featuring Steve Winwood
- "None of Us Are Free" featuring Sting and Sheila E.
- "It's Only Make Believe" featuring Mariah Carey and Vince Gill
- "Don't Play That Song (You Lied)" featuring Bekka Bramlett
- "If I Had No Loot" featuring Van Hunt, Nikka Costa and Billy F. Gibbons
- "Riding Thumb" featuring Travis Tritt and Robert Randolph
- "We Shall Be Free" featuring Paul Rodgers
- "You Are So Beautiful" featuring Billy Preson, Zucchero, Eric Clapton and Robert Randolph

Mariah's "We Belong Together" wins best lyrics of the past 13 years
Best lyrics of this generation
What are the best song lyrics of the past 13 years? The answer came from more than 5,000 music fans who voted in a lyrics poll by Billboard and USA WEEKEND at Billboard.com. Although all the lyrics of the songs listed below translated into hits, it was no surprise that the most votes, 33%, went to Mariah Carey's We Belong Together.
Carey knows how to create lyrical magic by writing incredible songs that really speak to the masses. The proof: "We Belong Together" was the "Hot 100 Song of the Year" at "Billboard's 2005 Music Awards," and it was far and away the biggest hit of last year.
Here, your poll results:
1. "We Belong Together," Mariah Carey (2005)
2. "Smooth," Santana, featuring Rob Thomas (1999)
3. "Fallin'," Alicia Keys (2001)
4. "Lose Yourself," Eminem (2002)
5. "Hey Ya!," Outkast (2003)
6. "Stay," Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories (1994)
7. "Gangsta's Paradise," Coolio (1995)
8. "Missing," Everything but the Girl (1994)
9. "No Scrubs," TLC (1999)
10. "Family Affair," Mary J. Blige (2001)

Mariah Carey may be in ET for film shoot
Because mountains will play a siginificant role in the movie "Tennessee," the movie's star Mariah Carey, might pay visit to this area in the fall.
MIMI IN EAST TENNESSEE? Look cool, y'all. Sultry Top 40 siren Mariah Carey could be in the house -- and by "house," I mean the Knoxville area -- in a few months to film her new movie, titled, appropriately enough, "Tennessee."
What? How can this be? Why is she doing this? Enough with your questions already. Am I not a mere mortal? OK, here's the scoopage.
Former Knoxville resident Russell Schaumburg wrote the screenplay for "Tennessee," an independent film going into production in November. It's about two brothers who hit the road to Tennessee to reunite with their estranged father.
Russell is a 1989 Webb High School graduate, and "Tennessee" is the first major screenplay he has sold. Part of the movie plays out in New Mexico, another part in Texas, and the last part in Nashville and the East Tennessee area, near the mountains.
"I think there is a really good chance they will shoot something in East Tennessee," Russell told the Insider recently. "Mountains play a significant thematic role in the movie."
If it happens, the filming probably would happen either at the end of the year or early 2007. And, of course, Mariah would be part of it along with co-stars James D'Arcy and Ethan Peck.
Mariah, or "Mimi," as the peeps in the biz call her, will play Krystal (yes, named after the restaurant), an aspiring country music singer who gets caught up in a road trip to Tennessee.
"She plays an important role in helping the boys go home," Schaumburg says.
Schaumburg has not met Mariah yet, but he's already daydreamed about what he would show her of his hometown.
"You know about the fireflies up in the mountains that do their dance? I would love to take her there to see it," Schaumburg says. "I think she'd dig that. And I'd probably take her to eat at the Tomato Head."
Later he e-mailed the Insider to amend his dream: "I would take Mariah on a boat down the Tennessee River to a big UT football game. I mean, that's a no-brainer!
"It's true East Tennessee at its best: A big boat, a big game, a big time at Neyland Stadium in the fall -- that's the ticket."
After that? "Well, I'd like for her to do a private concert at the Tennessee Theatre for me and 1,000 of my closest friends," he says with a laugh.
Ah, that boy dreams big.

What will be the future of Atlantic City?
Atlantic City Casinos Are Shuttered by N.J. Budget Impasse
Atlantic City has been experiencing a bit of a rebound in classiness of late. A street of rundown tenements has made way for the Walk, a warren of upscale outlets such as those of Coach and Mikasa. The Tropicana Hotel and Casino built a three-story structure with about a dozen restaurants and clubs. And last week, Caesars Atlantic City resort hotel and casino opened the Pier at Caesars, the latest renovation of the old Steeplechase amusement pier, which will eventually have 90 stores such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Burberry, as well as 10 more restaurants. Miss America and her datedness have left, but Jay-Z and his first hip nightclub outside of New York have come.
"I am just hoping Atlantic City will have no tarnished image after this," said Linda M. Kassekert, chairman of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, whose 190 inspectors were furloughed after they had counted the casinos' winnings and made sure the chips, keys and cash were secure. The casinos average $16.3 million in winnings each day, of which 8 percent, or approximately $1.3 million, goes to a state fund earmarked to help the elderly and the disabled. Kassekert said that after the budget is passed, or if the governor relents on the furloughs, her inspectors can get the casinos rolling again in "two or three hours."
"We just feel caught in the middle," said Joseph A. Corpo Jr., vice president and general counsel of the Borgata, and also president of the Casino Association of New Jersey, the industry's trade group. "It is senior citizens who benefit from this. We understand the impasse, but we are certain that keeping us open would generate more money than the state is saving."
Despite its attempt to go upscale, though, Atlantic City still has its grimness. Much of the Boardwalk is seedy, and streets farther back from the casinos are poor and crime-infested. The city of 40,000, for instance, has no movie theater or even a supermarket. Madonna, Mariah Carey and Barbra Streisand grace billboards announcing that they are coming to Atlantic City soon, but on-the-Boardwalk "entertainment" includes an off-key trumpeter with a tattered case open for tips, and an awkward tap-dancing woman spouting lines from the Bible just a few feet away.

Finally!!!!! Dog painted by Mariah picture

Remember on May the 14th. I posted the news (see May section for all details), at that time the dog painted by Mariah was not revealed among the available pictures.: "Film celebrities will unleash their artistic talents in a new way-by painting life-size Labrador retrievers to be auctioned off at a benefit in early August and online in early September.
After the official launch in mid-June and a parade down Main Street on the 4th of July, each "star" dog will be auctioned off, with the help of Donna Anderson www.fundraisingauctioneer.com, at a singular benefit event on August 1st-the proceeds of which will support Aspen Filmfest's extensive year-round youth education programs.
For those not able to join in on the benefit auction, additional celebrity dogs will be auctioned off online through Charity Folks www.charityfolks.com September 1-15, 2006. Look for Aspen Filmfest's Best in Show splash page on the Charity Folks website starting in June.

Packages for Tunis
After the 2 French tour operators I found last week, Italian fan site MariahLivelet me know that an Italian tour operator is now offering packages for a trip to Tunis (apparently even to non Italian fans too). Go take a look at Ranalli Travel.
Heroes note: Just like the French tour operators last week, apparently the prices are not that great, as for exemple, a departure from Rome (which will be the cheapest one), is minimum 410 Euros with the lowest category of ticket for 1 concert.  Fans were expecting a very good deal, which's not really the case.  A lot of them already booked their flight and hotel in Tunis on their own.
However if you're interested you can contact the tour operator for complete infos.

Mariah was the only other woman to finish among the top 17 artists
Tupac Shakur, Jay-Z and Notorious B.I.G. were crowned the top three artists in a poll conducted by Remy Martin as part of the company's second Black Music Month initiative.
Part of the June initiative included a poll on Remy Martin's website where the popular cognac maker invited visitors to vote for their favorite songs and artists in hip-hop soul history. The site maintained a regularly updated leaderboard displaying the top 17 artists and 38 songs until the polls closed last week on June 30th.
Over 10,000 votes were cast in the poll, which was limited to visitors age 21 or older who were allowed to vote for as many as five artists and/or songs each. The late Tupac Shakur scored both top-artist and top-song honors, leaving his mark with his hit song "Hail Mary."
R&B chanteuse Mariah Carey was the only other woman to finish among the top 17 artists, although Keyshia Cole and Lauryn Hill made appearances on the top song list.
For the final list of the top 17 artists and 38 songs visit Remi Martin's website.

CD format gets a "reboot" from Universal Music
The world's biggest record company is not ready to give the compact disc up for dead just yet, and is giving the venerable music format a revamp.
Universal Music Group, home to artists such as U2 and Mariah Carey, is rolling out three new tiers of CD packaging in Europe, ranging from lush deluxe editions down to bare-bones cardboard sleeves that are designed to compete with albums sold online.
Despite the hype about online music stores like iTunes, the huge majority of music is still sold on CDs, usually inside the "jewel boxes" that have been around for decades.
"We thought we should reboot the consumer's experience of buying CDs," said Max Hole, executive vice president for marketing and A&R at Universal Music Group International. "Ninety percent of what we sell is physical goods, and the CD hasn't had much of a revamp in the last 20 years."
The middle tier of Universal's CDs will be sold in a new "super jewel box" designed to be stronger and more durable than the standard jewel box. Universal Music plans to absorb the extra manufacturing costs, estimated to be about 3 to 5 euro cents per unit.
Although it does not set retail prices, Universal Music expects the deluxe CDs to sell for an average of 19.99 euros (14 pounds), the standard for 14.99 euros and the basic for 9.99 euros. The group is part of France's Vivendi.
The basic package will be used to stimulate sales for catalogue albums that have been on sale for a while, "similar to a paperback book," Hole said.
Universal Music expects digital sales to double to about 10 percent of its sales this year, with digital making up 25 percent of revenues by 2010.

Mariah featured in " Essence Cares" campaign video
Jakes implores black community to support children
Bishop T.D. Jakes isn't giving up on the nation's black youth, and on Saturday he implored members of the black community to adopt the same mind-set.
The three-day Essence Fest, featuring daylong seminars and nights filled with top-name musical acts, began its 12th installment Saturday. This is the first year it's been held outside New Orleans.
Essence is using this weekend to launch its Essence Cares program, designed to promote involvement in organizations that help children affected by substandard education, poverty, gang violence and natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, which swamped New Orleans last year.
The Essence Cares campaign is being promoted in a short video featuring celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover, Mariah Carey and Harry Belafonte.

I made a lil' summary and translation of the article below
She's so "Mimi" (as in French mimi means cute)
Finally the tickets for the concerts in Tunis went on sale this week and according to the boss of Intervalle Events (promoting the event), 30.000 posters and 1.000 huge posters are displayed through the country.
Commercials are also broadcasted on radios and TV channels.
As Mariah is the artist of 2006, it's a big event for Tunisia and it's her first concert in Africa.
She loved Africa back in 2000 when she visited Morocco with then boyfriend Luis Miguel and she even wore a traditional dress during her stay.
Tunis will be the start of the Tour.
These 2 concerts in Tunis will be the start of the star's Tour: «The Adventures Of Mimi… The Voice … The Hits… The Tour».  The singer will perform songs of her latest album and remixed songs of her classics in order to make them sound more actual.
"My All", "One Sweet Day", "Hero", "Close My Eyes" will be part of the setlist along with more festive and explosive RnB/HipHop tracks such as "Fantasy" and "It's Like That".
Two concerts but not the same ones.  Every concert will be a unique and exclusive moment even more as Mariah will debut her Tour in Tunis, she will probably test a maximum of songs to our biggest pleasure.

The Voice … The Hits… The Tour».
